Here’s What is Happening for Remembrance Day in Brampton

As November is just around the corner, Brampton Remembrance Day is upon us and taking a moment of our time to remember the fallen men and women who served this country during wartime is very important.

As such, In Brampton Remembrance Day, a number of events are happening around the city and there are some additional pieces of information you should know as well.

Events for the next two Sundays

As part of this year’s Brampton Remembrance Day, have events planned throughout the city. Here are the details:

Branch 609 Parade and Service of Remembrance
Sunday, November 4 at 10:55 am
Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 609, 1133 Queen Street East

Branch 15 Candlelight Service
Sunday, November 4 at 7:30 pm
Location: Gage Park, Veteran Statue

Branch 15 and 609 Sunrise Service
Sunday, November 11 at 7:55 am
Location: Meadowvale Cemetery Chapel, 7732 Mavis Road

City of Brampton Parade and Service of Remembrance
Sunday, November 11 at 10:55 am
Location: Brampton City Hall, Ken Whillans Square, Cenotaph

Road closures

Because of the aforementioned events on November 11, the city is reminding residents of several road closures in Brampton for the duration.

In Brampton Remembrance Day The following roads will be closed from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm:

  • Main Street South from Queen Street to Clarence Street.
  • Wellington Street West from George Street South to Chapel Street.

The following roads will be closed from 10:30 am to 11:00 am:

  • Theatre Lane from Union Street to Main Street North.

The following roads will be closed from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm:

  • Armstrong Street between Chapel Street and Mary Street.
  • Chapel Street between Wellington Street and Armstrong Street.
  • Mary Street between Armstrong Street to the entrance of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, on Mary Street.

Please note that John Street and Beatty Avenue will be converted from one-way to two-way streets for the duration of the above closures.

Veterans can ride for free on Brampton Transit

War veterans can ride Brampton Transit for free on November 11. A veteran can be identified by producing a Brampton Transit “War Veteran Pass” or by any of the following items:

  • Uniform
  • Medals
  • Berets
  • Blazer
  • Other means of identification
